Definitions, characteristics, and regulatory application
Cookies are small text files that sites visited by the user send and record on their computer or mobile device, to be subsequently transmitted back to the same sites upon future visits. Cookies enable a website to remember user actions and preferences (such as login details, chosen language, font size, display settings, etc.), so these do not need to be re-entered each time the user returns to the site or navigates from one page to another. Therefore, cookies are used to carry out IT authentications, session tracking, and to store information regarding the activities of users accessing a site, and they may also contain a unique identifier that allows tracking of the user’s browsing within the site for statistical or advertising purposes.
The use of third-party cookies on this website is governed by the policies provided by these third parties; therefore, we invite the data subject to review the privacy notices published on the web pages indicated in section 6 Purposes and List of Cookies Used by the Site.
Types of cookies: This website is analyzed with a cookie scanning tool to maintain the most accurate list possible. The cookies that may be detected are categorized as follows:
- Necessary cookies: Necessary cookies help make a website usable by enabling basic functions such as page navigation and access to secure areas of the site. The website cannot function properly without these cookies.
- Preference cookies: These allow, if the data subject has provided explicit and informed consent, a website to remember information that changes how the site behaves or appears, such as the user’s preferred language or region.
- Statistical cookies: These are used to conduct statistical analyses, such as to (i) assess the effectiveness of the services provided via the Website, (ii) design the Website, or (iii) measure its “traffic,” that is, the number of visitors, possibly classified by characteristics of interest (e.g., geographic area, time slot, etc.).
- Marketing, social, and profiling cookies: These are used to track users across websites, provided that the data subject has given explicit and informed consent. The intent is to display relevant and engaging ads for each user.
The data processing for the purpose outlined in point 1 is necessary to fulfill your request, and any refusal could limit and/or prevent the full use of the features and services available on the website. The legal basis for processing your data for the purposes in point 1 is legitimate interest, in accordance with Article 6, paragraph 1, letter f) and Recital 47 of the GDPR. The processing is necessary for pursuing the legitimate interest of the data controller or third parties, provided that this does not override the interests or fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject that require personal data protection, considering the reasonable expectations held by the data subject based on their relationship with the data controller. These are activities strictly necessary for the functioning of the site and the provision of the website navigation service.
Providing data for purposes 2, 3, and 4 is optional, based on the legal basis of consent under Article 6.1.a), and any refusal to process this data will not compromise the website’s functionality or services.
Specifically, through the features in the banner, the user can: (i) accept all cookies on the Site, including those for targeted advertising, by providing the relevant consent; (ii) refuse the installation of all cookies on the Site except those strictly necessary for its proper functioning (i.e., “Necessary Cookies”); (iii) access, via a specific link, the "Review Your Cookie Choices" section, where the user can find more information on specific cookies on the Site, grouped by categories, and, where applicable, provide or withdraw consent or object to processing for the categories of cookies to enable or disable on their device; (iv) close the cookie banner by clicking the appropriate icon and continue browsing within the Site with the default settings.
The Data Controller clarifies that the “default” cookie setting involves the installation of only Necessary Cookies.
