Current critical environmental issues, such as soil degradation and climate change, call for sustainable agricultural strategies. This paper provides a compendium of best practices for increasing the stock of organic carbon in vineyard soils. The practices illustrated have been grouped into three macro-categories: soil management, use of soil conditioners and fertilizers, and irrigation techniques. Detailed fact sheets are presented for each practice highlighting its agri-environmental and economic advantages and disadvantages.
