This report constitutes Deliverable 6.1 of the VitiCaSe project that aims to define a common analytical framework for the environmental/economic assessment of VitiCaSe pilot farms, applied to vineyard production under different SSM practices for improving C stocking, as compared with the baseline.
The focus of environmental on pilot farms is based on the LCA analysis to quantify the potential impacts (with reference to CO2 eq. emissions and Consumption of fossil resources).
The focus of economic impacts on pilot farms is based on the analysis of the economic feasibility and profitability of different SSM practices, with a particular attention to the evaluation of its potential additional costs and benefits for farmers (in terms of income derived for selling their Carbon Credit). It is recognized that SSM adoption is driven, among other aspects, by profitability. When profit potential increases the adoption rate also goes up, and vice-versa, making the profitability analysis a crucial step in evaluating the attractiveness of the SSM practices studied in VitiCaSe.
This includes the definition of the appropriate indicators and data needed to perform the assessment and the establishment of guidelines for roadmap development.
