Written by Image Line with the scientific support of CREA as part of the LIFE VitiCaSe project, this manual is a practical guide to using the Carbon Farming Tool based on the RothC model.
What is RothC?
RothC is a model that estimates how soil organic matter content changes and evolves over time, helping us understand the impact of agricultural practices on carbon storage.
Where to download it, and above all why!
You can find it here: https://www.life-viticase.eu/en/download/tool-user-manual-eng
Why: 3 benefits you get by downloading the manual
• Obtain precise soil carbon estimates to make more informed agronomic choices.
• Exploit the potential of the RothC model in the sustainability of agricultural soils.
• Share results and compare them with other carbon farming projects.
Thanks to the manual, you will understand how to manage data sources:
• Climate data: temperatures, rainfall, evapotranspiration.
• Agronomic data: organic fertilizers, crop residues, vegetation cover.
• Pedological data: clay content, soil depth.
In just a few steps, the Tool will process the information, providing you with carbon pool graphs and exportable monthly/annual reports.
This way, you can assess soil carbon stability and turnover and compare different management scenarios!
